this print, like much of my 2D stuff, started out as a photograph (actually a cell-phone camera self-portrait).


I was taking a solar printmaking class and exploring relief printing. I was worried that I wouldn't come up with anything but simple line drawings, because the relief method is pretty much just negative vs. positive, without any tonal variation. I was really happy with how this composition worked out and super excited to try more relief-style solar plate prints (which is really non-toxic and low-tech)!
